What Can I Make with TURNIPS?

Filed under: Vegetables — Susanne @ 6:48 am

Turnips are one of those veggies I see in the store and think — that’d be fun — but I have NO idea what to do with them.

Do you microwave them? Bake them? What do you put on them?

What can I make with Turnips? :)

Try this fun version of Turnip French Fries:

Slice 8 medium turnips into fry size sticks.

    Toss with:
    1/4 cup parmesan cheese
    1 teaspoon onion powder
    1 teaspoon paprika
    1 teaspoon garlic salt
    in a zip lock bag

Place on a greased cookie sheet and bake at 425 degrees for 20 minutes until crisp/tender.

This is a recipe for mashed turnips.
Peel and dice 3 turnips, cover with boiling salted water and cook till tender; drain and press the water out of them.
Return to pan and add 3 tablespoons shortening or butter, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon white pepper, beat or mash together, when thoroughly hot turn into vegetable dish and serve.
