What Can I Make with OATMEAL?

Filed under: Breakfast Foods — Susanne @ 11:59 am

My kids love oatmeal and we always have a few tubs on hand.

I’d love some ideas and recipes for things I can make with oatmeal other than the standard bowl of oatmeal with milk and sugar.

So, what can I make with OATMEAL? :)

Here’s my favorite Oatmeal Hand Treatment.

Mix oatmeal with water and let it stand ten minutes. Add a bit of olive oil and mix well.

Gently rub the mixture into your hands and let it stand 1-2 minutes. Rinse and apply your favorite moisturizer.

I made an oatmeal bath for my little ones when they got the chicken pox. It helps soothe the itch - I used the regular quick cook oatmeal and put it in my blender until it was powder. I then sprinkled it in their bath and let them soak in the bath for 15 minutes- after that, I pat them dry gently and it helps get rid of the itch caused by checken pox.

Here’s a great Oatmeal pudding recipe that my kids love!

    2 Cups Oatmeal
    2 Cups Cottage Cheese
    2 Eggs
1 Cup Milk (skim is fine)
    1 tsp cinnamon
    1 tsp nutmeg (optional)
    1/2 cup sugar

Mix everything together and bake at 350 for about 40 minutes. Served with warm fruit compote or add raisins before baking for some extra sweetness.

Oatmeal cookies of course. They are a great way to sneak some extra fiber in your child’s diet. Add some raisins or pieces of dried apples and you’ll work in a serving of fruit as well.

    No-Knead Oatmeal Bread
    1 package active dry yeast
    2 cups all purpose flour
    1/2 cup quick cooking oatmeal
    2 tablespoons vegetable oil
    1 teaspoon salt
    2 eggs
    1 cup hot milk
Combine all of the ingredients in a large bowl and beat for 3 minutes. Push down the batter if it tries to climb the beaters. Pour into greased loaf pan. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from pan immediately.
