What Can I Make With Cherries?
My neighbor’s cherry tree is out of of control and she just handed me a huge bag of these yummy fruits. There is no way we can eat them all as is before they go bad. Any ideas what I can make with them? Are there any easy ways to prepare something that stores well in the fridge or freezer? At this point, I’m even open to canning options.
These cherries are just so yummy, I’d hate to see them go bad. Please help!

Make some syrup. It’s a lot of work to halve and pit the cherries, but after that, just toss them in a big pot with a cup of sugar per pound (less if cherries are very sweet) and enough water so you can see it in between the cherries. Maybe a little vanilla. Then bring it to a slow boil and boil until very thick, stirring often to avoid scorching. This will keep in a glass jar in the refrigerator practically forever. Great on ice cream, stirred into yogurt, etc.

I never get to make anything with ripe cherries … we eat them way to quickly! I love them fresh and raw anyway, and the kids snack on them if I leave them unattended.

LOL, yes I was thinking the same thing - you can just send them my way. Do you have a dehydrater? I bet they would be really good dried! Might want to invest in a cherry pitter first!
