What Can I Make with Bisquick?

Filed under: Breads, Prepared Foods — Susanne @ 9:47 am

I hear Bisquick is super-handy and can be used to make everything from pizza dough to pancakes and many baked goods in between.

I’ve only used Bisquick for one thing — and that is making those “dough-boys” in Girl Scout Camp. Remember those? You mix the water with Bisquick and then wrap the dough around a large whittled stick. Cook the end of your stick (including your dough-boy) over a campfire until it’s golden-brown (although they normally look more like a blacked dough-boy than a golden-brown one). Slide it off and add butter and jam. YUM!

I’m sure there are plenty more recipes for using Bisquick than my old campfire ones. ;) So, please share your Bisquick recipes, ideas, and experiences here. Thanks much!

I mix half bisquick and half seasoned bread crumbs and use it as batter for my chicken breasts. I first dip the chicken in eggs beaten with a bit of milk. Then add onion powder to the egg mixture and the bisquick mixture. Then dip the egg coated chicken in the bisquick mixture and repeat one more time and cook in hot oil until brown. Then Turn over and cook other side until brown.

This is also good with pork or veal.

Easy…..add water and make pancakes. They really taste quite good.

I use Bisquick with an egg and a little water to make a biscuit base for all kinds of baked dishes.

I mix enough Bisquick, and egg, and a little water to make a basic dough consistency. Exact amounts vary as it would depend on how large your baking pan is and how thick you want your bread-like base to be. Just mix enough of each to make a dough that sticks together but is still quite sticky to the touch.

Spray a glass baking dish with nonstick spray and then spread the dough along the bottom of the pan. I usually choose a shredded cheese that will go with my recipe and spread a thin layer on top of the dough. Then layer with anything you’d like in your baked casserole…veggies, salsa, cooked chicken, cooked meats like pepperoni, etc and then layer with more shredded cheese.

Since everything is already cooked (the meats) it’s just a matter of baking the biscuit bottom and melting the cheese. At about 400 degrees it should take about twenty minutes or so, but that also depends based on how large your dish is.

Once the bottom looks browned (hence the need for the glass baking dish) and the cheese is hot and bubbly, slice and serve! It’s a great way to use up little bits of stuff you have left over as well!

    Red Lobster style cheese biscuits

    2 c. Bisquick
    2/3 c. milk
    1/2 c shredded cheddar cheese
    2 Tbsp butter
    1/8 tsp garlic powder

Mix the first 3 ingredients together. Drop by spoonful on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes at 450 degrees. Mix butter and garlic powder and brush on warm biscuits.

    Yummy!

I’m looking for an old pepperoni bread recipe my aunt used to make with Bisquick. It’s not on their website. Anyone out there have it?

Sausage Cheese Balls! I am not invited to Holiday gatherings unless I promise to make them…so easy.

I use it to make chicken and dumplings. I cook pieces of chicken breast with some onion, celery and carrots (finely chopped) until the chicken is done. Add some chicken bullion cubes and salt and pepper as needed.

Add enough milk to two cups of bisquick until you get a dough similar to a biscuit dough. Drop spoonfulls of the dough into your boiling chicken soup mixture. Cook them uncovered for 10 minutes, then covered for another 10 minutes.

For an even faster version use chicken chunks that are already cooked.

Make any of the “impossible” pies on their website. OR another thing I have done with them is to make a dough w/ water and bisquick and wrap it around string cheese to make a cheese filled breadstick.
