Kids and Fruit
Do your kids have a love / hate relationship with fruit? My daughter does. Some days she can’t get enough of apples, bananas and grapes and other days, she won’t touch it no matter what. Since I want my child to eat healthy , one piece of fruit per day (along with some fruit juice, vegetables and the like) is a must. Since I’m tired of fighting with her over the issue (who know a four year old could be so stubborn), I came up with some ways to get her to eat her fruit on days when she isn’t in the mood to chomp down on an apple or banana.
- Cut up fruit in her cereal
- Offer dried fruit as a snack. Raisins, dried apples and banana chips seem to work well
- Hide the fruit in a smoothie or a cold fruit soup
- Hide the fruit in a PB sandwich
- Get her involved by making fruit salad together
- Try a new fruit like mango (yuck according to her) or papaya (that one got the approval)
Give some of these tips a try and see if it doesn’t become easier to get your child to eat his or her daily amount of fruit. Take a moment to browse through the fruit section of this website for new ideas for old time favorite fruits.
